Zheng Yang

Bio

Dr. Zheng Yang has held the computational chemist position at Computational and Structural Chemistry department in Molecular Discovery Research, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Collegeville, PA R&D site since 2003. Before joining GSK, he received his PhD with Prof. Todd Wipke in computational chemistry from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2003, and M.S. in chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science in 1997. He has worked on various drug discovery projects at GSK, ranging from compound collection enhancement to methodology development to lead identification and optimization, and has been awarded the 2009 GSK Exceptional Science Award (the highest scientific one in GSK). He is also a leading expert in high performance computing (HPC) and co-leads the Cross Pharma HPC forum with other big players in the pharmaceutical industry.
